About
Square Eight Two is my corner of calm.
Hey, I’m Derrick. A proud Black and Deaf entrepreneur. God comes first in everything I do. For over 14 years I’ve been living and breathing creativity, from behind the lens as a photographer to behind the screen as a digital artist, designer, and visual storyteller. In May 2025, I launched Square Eight Two to turn my longtime obsession with shape, structure, and meaning into something tangible. Something that can live on your walls and speak without saying a word.
Let’s talk about squares.
I’ve always been drawn to them. Not just as a shape, but as a mindset. Clean. Centered. Balanced. Squares are everywhere in my work because they feel right. They frame the moment. They hold the message. When it came to designing for home, office, or studio, nothing made more sense than bringing art into the square.
Now let’s talk numbers.
I was born in 1982 on November 28 and ever since the numbers 8 and 2 have followed me like a quiet rhythm. They’re more than dates. They’re symbols. That’s why Square Eight Two isn’t just a name. It’s a signature. A mindset. A flow that breaks out of the box (literally) but still honors the beauty of the frame.
And that logo? That’s my brain in motion.
A looping 82 full of movement and meaning. I design with intention, empathy and emotion. From crisp lines to soft gradients, from rhythm in nature to structure in silence, every piece is built to reflect something deeper. I create using a mix of tools like Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, and Canva. It’s not about the program. It’s about the pulse behind it.
This isn’t just wall art. It’s a still moment in a noisy world. Something you hang where your thoughts settle. A piece that brings balance, creativity, and a little breath of peace into the space you call your own.
So whether you’re browsing, collecting, or just vibing with the energy here, thank you. You’re part of this now.
